Piia – your local guide

I have a one-person business based in Mäntyharju. I create small, carefully designed experiences in the local area, focusing on nature, wellbeing and local culture—with an emphasis on safety and genuine encounters.

Massage and relaxation

Our treatments—whether gentle or more therapeutic—are a perfect addition to your stay. If you are staying at Unelma, you’ll find the long-established massage practice of Kaija Heinonen on the ground floor of the house.

We live in the lower floors of the house and are available to help with any questions before and during your stay.

When staying with us, you are welcome to use a range of complimentary items available in the bathroom, including a hairdryer, hair and body wash products, hairspray and styling products, hand cream, cotton buds, cotton pads, hair turbans, spare toothbrushes and other personal care items, as well as basic first aid supplies.

For an additional fee, a wild herb foot bath set is available. You can either create your own herbal blend or use a ready-made herb mix. The set includes a foot bath basin, a personal towel, a foot file, nail files, nail scissors, foot cream and nail polish.

The foot bath set costs 15 € / person, and the items can be found in the apartment (in the brown kitchen cupboard).

A baby bath, potty, booster seat, baby bouncer, high chair and a child bike seat (with helmet) are included in the apartment.

For an additional fee, you can reserve a sturdy baby bed, which we prepare with high-quality linen and soft toys (the toys are also washed between guests).

We are a pet-friendly accommodation, so you are welcome to stay with your pet.

The pet fee of 30 € is charged per stay and includes cleaning, a treat, a water bowl and a pet towel for use during your visit. We also provide protective covers for beds and sofas if your pet enjoys relaxing on softer surfaces.

Heating our private house sauna is available for stays longer than 3 nights. Sauna time is typically between 7–9 pm, but can be arranged according to your needs.

The sauna is located on the ground floor of our house and is a traditional Finnish home sauna, renovated in the 1990s. You can step outside to cool off between sessions. The heating fee is 30 € per booking.

When booking, you can also request a traditional birch whisk (10 € / piece) or ask us to add 1–2 crystals of 100% menthol to the sauna water. Menthol is known for opening the airways effectively.

If you’d like to combine sauna with ice swimming, there is a public lakeside sauna at Veljesniemi, maintained by Reissupolku ry. It is heated every Tuesday evening from October to May. The price is 5 € / person per session, and an ice hole is available during winter. For more information, see Reissupolku’s website or ask Piia.

We offer 4 basic bicycles without electric assistance and one powerful electric fatbike (e-fat).

The basic bikes are 10 € / booking, and the electric fatbike is 80 € / booking.

Through our partner network, you can also rent 4 high-quality electric mountain bikes (5 bikes available in total: 1 L size, 3 M sizes and 1 S size). Prices for adult e-mountain bikes start from 50 € / 4 hours. We also have 3 children’s bikes (non-electric).

On the storytelling house tour, you’ll step inside our rare historic merchant house, which has been home to generations of women. Their personal touch can be seen in the unique details throughout the house. The tour ends with herbal tea in Piia’s kitchen.
