With a pet in Mäntyharju
Pets are often welcome at least on café terraces, and there are plenty of walking trails and beautiful route options available.
Stay with us at Unelma
We have a Finnish Lapphund of our own (a spayed female dog) and two cats, so pet supplies are also available if you happen to forget something at home. After all, it is not always easy to find dog-friendly accommodation while travelling.
Pet-friendly accommodation
Pet-friendly means that we have provided food and water bowls as well as feeding mats for pets. This helps prevent bowls from sliding around the floor and also protects the flooring.
Toys
We also have a few toys available, and if needed, more can be borrowed from the second floor. Shared toys are usually found in a basket in the entrance hall. We clean them regularly.
Garden
Pets can use the garden around the house for quick toilet breaks, but we naturally hope that larger business is taken care of in the nearby forests. We can provide waste bags if you have forgotten your own. We are also happy to lend protective covers for sofas and beds, as well as towels.
Wonderful outdoor areas
Mäntyharju offers fantastic outdoor areas, as long as pets are kept on a leash.
There are several walking routes available even during winter, including routes on the ice.
Several forest areas with lovely trails are located within less than one kilometre of Unelma.
We recommend:
- The beautiful Rantapuisto area
- The illuminated Rantareitti trail with lake views
- The forested Citypatikka trail
- The woodlands of Teerniemi and Pappilanniemi
All of these options are located very close by, so there is certainly plenty of space to explore.
Pet-friendly swimming beaches
Feel free to ask us for more recommendations when you arrive, as there are not many of them. For example, there is a place less than one kilometre from Unelma where dogs can also go swimming.
Repovesi National Park
Our Finnish Lapphund Lala first walked to Repovesi along the Mäntyharju–Repovesi Trail from the centre of Mäntyharju when she was only seven months old (approximately 33 km one way), so there are longer routes available too if needed.
A walk in the nearby forest
Right below you can see an easy nearby forest loop that takes about 15 minutes. The surrounding forest area offers dozens of kilometres of trails if you want to go further. You are warmly welcome to stay with us – also with your pet.
